A score is a position within its own scale, not a percentile against a population. Turning one into the other needs a normed sample of people like you, measured with the same instrument, and we do not have one. You will never see a claim that you are in the top ten percent of anything, because that claim would be invented.
Self-report measures self-description. That is genuinely useful and it is not the same as behaviour. What you get is an accurate picture of how you currently see yourself, which moves with mood, recent events and how you would like to come across.
Small differences are noise. Short scales move by a few points between sittings, so treat only the large gaps as signal, and treat a domain sitting near the midpoint as unresolved rather than as average.
Nothing here was written by us. The items come from the International Personality Item Pool, the O*NET Resource Center, the University of Maryland, the WHO Collaborating Centre and published journal appendices. Each test page lists its instrument, authors, licence and the page the items were read from.
Some are outright public domain. Others are free for non-commercial use with attribution. Where a licence carries a condition, the page says so rather than burying it.
The wellbeing, anxiety and self-esteem measures here are screening questionnaires. They exist to tell you whether something is worth a closer look, which is all they can do. Diagnosis happens with a clinician, in conversation, using information a questionnaire cannot reach.
Take the Big Five. It is the model personality researchers actually use, fifty items cover it properly, and every other personality test here either shortens it, deepens it or sits alongside it. Ten minutes, and the rest of the catalogue makes more sense afterwards.
